Year 6 - Starting Secondary School

BBC Bitesize > Year 6 daily lesson plan April 24th Wellbeing

There are plenty of short video clips from children discussing the main areas of transition. Famous people giving advice, pupils explaining their own first day experiences etc. Very easy to watch with some practical ideas for our kids to look at. There is a parent section too.

Mrs Capstick and Mrs Rushton

This is a great RE Project for the children to complete and it will cover all of the Summer Term.

It includes all the faiths and beliefs for every religion in a fun way and actually supports what I have been trying to do in school. The Interview Room needs to be more of a ‘Prayer Room’ and I have worked with Year 6 to do that before school was closed.

I have also started to establish a ‘Reflection Area’ on the grass area by the car park and have ordered a cross and some signs (School Prayer and Christian Values) to be put up on the brick wall along with two arched church window mirrors.

This ‘Reflection Area’ will be used  for RE activities, reflection time and for class and small group work.

This project should only be attempted in small sections on a weekly basis as we would do in school with our RE Lessons. Year 5 and Year 6 children can work on it independently but Year 3 and Year 4 children will have certain activities set weekly by Mr Suligowski and Mr Reid.

We could ask Father Jack and perhaps Imran Kotwal to chose the best designed ‘Prayer/Belief Rooms’.
