Only open on a phased return for Key Worker, Vulnerable and Year 6 pupils
St James’ CE Junior School – End of Year Message July 2020
It seems unbelievable that this is the last day of the school year.
So much has happened that we would never have expected under normal circumstances. We have had to adapt to the changes caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and respond to government guidance as it came out.
This has been a difficult time for everyone but we have all pulled together and have done the best we possibly could for the children of SJS.
Home Learning, Weekly Challenges and ‘Bubble Groups’ have now become familiar parts of school life. Facebook, telephone calls and emails have been new forms of communication and support.
The priority was to keep everyone safe and get through Coronavirus. Things have now moved on and a new phase will begin in September. School will be different from usual as we will be working in ‘Bubbles’ and many of the new rules and procedures introduced will still remain in place.
We will be open for everyone and we can all get back to teaching and learning and school life.
Thank you to parents, staff and governors for all the hard work everyone has undertaken during these past months. It has been a strange and terrible time but now we have September to look forward to when St James’ will once again be filled with the children of Hindpool.
Good Luck to all Year 6 pupils who are leaving us and moving on to Secondary School. It is a shame that your time with us ended as it did but now you are going to take the next step on your education journey.
Enjoy the summer holiday everyone and thank you again.

'What have you done today to make you feel proud?'
We believe that a school should have a happy, friendly, caring atmosphere where mutual respect and consideration for others go hand in hand with the pursuit of good standards and attitudes to work. Individual teachers take a major responsibility for the social and educational welfare of pupils in their classes but everybody in school takes an active, caring interest in all the children in school.
It is the overall aim of the school to create an atmosphere of friendliness and confidence where every member of the school community feels that they are appreciated, can realise their own potential and make the fullest contribution to the school with due regard to age, status and ability.
